Independence Day in the USA – Today, we celebrate the independence of our great nation and remember all the challenges it faced and conquered. On the 4th of July, our Founding Fathers wrote the Declaration of Independence, declaring our freedom from the British Empire and standing up to a tyrant. Tyrants have threatened our democracy throughout the ages, but tyrants come and go, and the United States still stands. To this day, the United States continues to be a safe haven for those running away from tyrants, and Poles were one of those people. Poles were suppressed and chased away from their motherland, but the United States allowed the Polish people, language, and culture to thrive.

The 4th of July is a reminder to us all that: Poland and America are partners in freedom. We must cherish our democracy, love our country, and continue to strive for a more perfect union. Happy Independence Day from the Polish American Congress!
