John Czop studied history at Washington and Lee University (B.A. magna cum laude 1973), and at Columbia University (M.A. 1974; M.Phil. 1976).

In 1997, he returned to the United States from Paris where he was doing  research and teaching the history of United States foreign policy-making at Sciences Po, and worked as reporter and then Associate Editor of the Post Eagle Weekly Newspaper, and from 2009 to 2015 as East Coast Correspondent for the Pasadena, California based News of Polonia/ Wiadomości Polonijne.

He has been a member of the Polish American Congress (PAC), New Jersey Division, since 1997, and since 2012 a PAC National Director. From May 2017 to the present he has been serving as Director of Policy Planning at the Polish American Congress National Office on K Street in Washington, DC.
